Anthem — Come Away to the Skies

People love this anthem, so the St. Monica and St. James Choir sings it virtually every year.  The American shape-note tune is terrific and this lively setting for SATB choir does it justice.  It’s dedicated to iconic American composer Alice Parker, in whose workshop this piece began.  As one conductor said, the piece “perfectly capture[s] the airy economy of the woman to whom you dedicated the piece. Wonderful.”
