St. Louis Convention, Shape‑Note Settings

The St. Louis convention of the American Guild of Organists included among its many great concerts and sessions a composers panel organized by Lorenz Publishing. Chris Hoh shared comments about the Mansions in the Skies book and other works in the Sacred Music Press catalog. Now those pieces are getting a wider hearing, including two instances nearby in Washington, DC. Meditation on “Holy Manna,” played by Daniel Elmer, began the St. James Day service at St. Monica & St. James church July 26. And Jubilation on “Pisgah,” offered by John (JJ) Mitchell, figures in his recital at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception August 9.
